Dear Lorraine Road Neighbors,
Our actions right now can help determine the future livability of Lorraine Road.
Let's STOP Light Industrial on Lorraine Road
What??????? CPA 2022-F is a county initiated amendment that will be voted on by the Sarasota County Commission on August 30.
This amendment would designate 11 miles-- Lorraine Road North(that's University to Fruitville Rd.) and Lorraine Road South (that's from Clark Rd to SR-681) as a Business Park Corridor (BP) overlay.
What does Business Park (BP) Corridor Overlay mean? On the proposed Lorraine Road Corridors developers could apply to develop 35 foot high buildings for use in Light Industrial, Warehouse Distribution, Office Park, Vehicle Parts, Dry-cleaning and Carpet Cleaning Plants, Sheet Metal Shop, Soft Drink Bottling, Furniture Manufacturing, Commercial Fruit and Vegetable Packing, Freight Storage, Research Laboratory, Repair of Electric Motors and much more next to residential homes & communities.
What are the possible impacts? Miles of disorderly business strip corridor and commercial signage could devalue surrounding residential communities and contribute to a sprawling developmental pattern plagued by traffic congestion.
Semi-truck trailers spewing diesel fumes, noise pollution from warehouse distribution activities at all hours of the day, air, soil, and water degradation could all negatively impact residential health, safety and happiness. A 24-hour distribution with operation with lots of personnel coming and going could increase crime.
What can I do to stop CPA 2022-F?
Email our Sarasota County Commissioners
and ask them to VOTE NO to CPA 2022-F.
Tell them your story and WHY commercial/industrial businesses do not belong in your neighborhood.
