PLEASE COME! Commission Meeting Sept 24th , 1:30 pm 1660 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota Special Exception, Tatum Road, Florida Baptist Children's Home, SE1805 We support the good works of FBCH foster care. We are not debating their mission, we are questioning this Special Exception meeting our land use regulations. The application shows 11 residences and a 8,500 sq ft. Multi-Purpose Resource Building on 14+ acres. In our opinion, the intended use is inconsistent with our OUE residential neighborhood. Per public testimony, we have been lead to believe that the 8,500 SF multipurpose, office, training, donation & resource distribution center with 18 parking spaces will be used by other families who are NON- RESIDENTS of the Tatum campus; and also may be used to mobilize volunteers, engage other churches and businesses. This use is not consistent with residential zoning, and most often delegated to commercial/warehouse zoning lands. The dramatic increase in non-residential traffic could negatively impact our neighborhood causing safety issues on a country road NOT suitable for warehouse activity of large food delivery trucks and numerous volunteers. We need to act now to preserve one of the last remaining pockets of residential rural areas near town. This property is currently zoned for 2 residences. Increased density of 11 residences on 14 + acres is inconsistent with the present zoning of one house per 5 acres. The applicant has good intentions, but this is the wrong location.
